Advantages of digital x-rays in dentistry.
Digital X-rays are an important part of dentistry. Dentists use them to diagnose dental problems and teach patients about their own oral health. Digital radiography (Digital X-ray) is the latest technology used to take dental X-rays.
Digital X-ray means low radiation. Digital radiography typically reduces radiation exposure by 75% or more. Digital X-ray images are instantly stored and ready to view on a computer. Digital X-ray system lets enlarge images, make enhancements to color which means a better diagnostics.
A full mouth series of dental X-rays is recommended for new patients. A full series is usually good for three to five years. Bite-wing X-rays (X-rays of top and bottom teeth biting together) are taken at recall (check-up) visits and are recommended once or twice a year to detect new dental problems. Detecting and treating dental problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and your teeth!
